Bio

Born and raised in Seoul, Christine Seo immigrated to the USA, first to California then New Jersey, with her husband and two sons in 2000. As a graduate of Fine Art in Seoul Women's University. Christine had own an Arts Academy (Prepare the college students) in Seoul and she was director while in Korea. While Christine focuses her oil and watercolor paintings on equine art, Christine also explores the intersectionality of Korean culture, portraiture and nature. She considers renowned artist, Roger Armstrong, as an influential mentor during her time in Laguna Beach. Christine has exhibited at a variety of venues in Southern California, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, including several solo shows at NYC, NY, PA, NJ. Her work has also been awarded by the Arts Bridge, Catharine L. Wolfe Art Club,

Morris Museum, West Windsor Arts Council, & Newton Company among others.

Artist statement

My representation of horse racing captures the dynamic energy and excitement of the sport. Bold, vibrant colors and striking visual elements convey the intensity of the race, paintings depicting images of horses, I expressed my feelings and thoughts in each painting, and approached them visually and friendly through the essence. Especially for me, horses are familiar and relatable animals, and they make me draw horses at this intersection based on my emotional experience when we spend time together. The scene that I am interested in is the story of horses looking at our world experiencing the human emotional world directly or indirectly in the lives of people image of horses and expressed them in colors, lines, and faces on the canvas. I like to paint. Inspired by scenes I have been with horses for a long time, I have dynamic energy and my passion for intense colors.
