Hongmi Kim Hoog, Born and raised in South Korea, Hongmi Kim Hoog draws on the country’s ceramic traditions and her mother’s quiet strength. After studying ceramics at Ewha Womans University and New York University, she expanded her techniques and artistic language. During the pandemic, she returned to her practice with renewed focus, exploring the layering of clays using yeonlimun (also known as neriage) to create intricate patterns and textures.

Her recent work blends porcelain, stoneware, and earthenware with crystal glazes, producing vibrant surfaces rich in luster and depth. By merging traditional Korean methods with contemporary innovations, Hoog’s ceramics reflect both personal narrative and cultural evolution.

In 2023, she completed an Artist-in-Residency program and workshop at Greenwich House Pottery in New York, NY. Her work has been exhibited internationally at prestigious venues including the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Art Biennale (China), the Biennal de Ceràmica d'Esplugues Angelina Alós (Spain), and the Guilford Art Center – Ceramics Biennial (USA).

She has also participated in group exhibitions such as Ceramics Now, the Artist-in-Residency Show at Greenwich House Pottery, the Jane Hartsook Gallery in New York City, and Dance of 4 Materiality, an invitational exhibition at One Art Space in Tribeca, NYC.

In 2025, her work was selected for the “Mediterraneo” Contemporary Ceramics Competition, and in 2026, her pieces were chosen for ABSENCE TAKES FORM – the 2026 NCECA (National Council Education of Ceramic Art) Annual.
