Seung Hyun Woo graduated from Sunhwa Arts High School and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. With a strong understanding of space and refined formal sensibility, she works across painting, installation, and other media. Based between Korea and the United States, she has expanded her artistic practice through exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and beyond. She currently serves as Secretary General of the 16th New York Korean Artists Association.
 

Her representative work Pietà is part of the collection of Sangok-dong Catholic Church in the Incheon Diocese, while her Stations of the Cross (14-part series) is permanently installed in the chapel of Gohan Catholic Church in the Wonju Diocese, demonstrating the intersection of faith and art. In 2024, Woo was awarded the Grand Prize at the 27th Catholic Art Awards, organized by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, recognizing both his artistic excellence and spiritual depth.

 

우승현 작가는 선화예술고등학교를 졸업한 뒤, 미국 샌프란시스코에 위치한 캘리포니아 예술대학에서 인테리어 건축을 전공하며 미술학사 학위를 받았습니다. 공간에 대한 깊은 이해와 조형 감각을 바탕으로 회화, 설치 등 다양한 장르에서 활동하고 있으며, 뉴욕, 뉴저지, 시카고 등 한국과 미국을 오가며 꾸준히 작품 세계를 넓혀가고 있습니다. 현재는

제 16대 뉴욕한인미술협회 총무직을 맡고 있습니다.

대표 작품인 피에타는 인천교구 상곡동 성당에 소장되어 있으며, 십자가의 길 14처 연작은 원주교구 고한성당 경당에 설치되어 신앙과 예술의 만남을 보여주고 있습니다. 2024년에는 한국 천주교 주교회의가 주관한 제27회 가톨릭 미술상 본상을 수상하며 예술성과 영성을 동시에 인정받았습니다.
