Artist Statement
My work explores fluid self-consciousness and the shifting identity of objects within nature and their environments. I am interested in how an object’s essence emerges through its interaction with surrounding forces.
The Floating Nature series originates from my earlier video and installation work, Swaying in the Power, in which I used leaves moving in the wind to examine the relationship between objects and environmental influence. This inquiry—into how objects respond, transform, and assert their presence—continues in my current work, approached through painting and digital media.
Delicate forms such as petals and branches appear repeatedly in my compositions. Though similar in shape or color, they create subtle variations in form, mood, and movement. These elements respond to their environment while simultaneously expressing an inner voice—an identity revealed through shifts in line, color, light, and gesture.
This movement evokes a floating, unsettled stream of unconscious thought. Through this reciprocal relationship between object and environment, both the object and the observer are transformed—no longer what they initially appeared to be.
