Dahyun Lee is a Korean traditional dance artist, choreographer, and performing arts administrator whose practice bridges Korea’s cultural heritage with contemporary performance and technology. With more than 25 years of experience in Korean traditional dance, she began her professional journey as a principal dancer with the Little Angels Performing Arts Troupe, representing Korea on cultural diplomacy tours across 22 countries and performing at internationally renowned venues including the Kennedy Center, Sydney Opera House, and the White House. She later performed with the Seoul Metropolitan Dance Theatre and earned a B.A. in Korean Dance from Korea National University of Arts, followed by an M.A. in Performing Arts Administration from New York University.
As Founder and Artistic Director of Lear Art Company, Lee expands traditional Korean dance through interdisciplinary performances that incorporate AI, XR, motion capture, interactive media, and contemporary storytelling. Her major projects include the AI-integrated performance The Story of Princess Gyesan, choreography for a KBS presidential election broadcast, international performances at Korean cultural and diplomatic institutions, and a collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon. Through performance, choreography, education, and cultural administration, Lee explores ways in which Korean tradition can be reinterpreted for contemporary audiences while preserving its cultural identity. Her work reflects an ongoing commitment to connecting tradition and innovation and to expanding Korean performing arts within an international context.
