Kim Hobong was born in Korea. After graduating from Hongik University’s Department of Western Painting and its Graduate School, he taught his juniors as a

lecturer at his alma mater, Seonhwa Arts High School, and won awards for excellence and special prizes at the Joongang Fine Arts Competition and major art

competitions. He moved to New York in 1993 and was fascinated by video art at New York University’s Graduate School of Studio Art. After graduation, he

worked on video in New York for several years. Since 2000, he has continued to work on two-dimensional works, shedding light on his life as an immigrant with

New York as the theme. He has had solo exhibitions and selected group exhibitions in Korea, New York, and New Jersey. He has recently participated in KIAF, LA Art Fair, etc., and continues to work between the United States and Korea.
