Suzy Taekyung Kim is a Korean-born, Canada and U.S based artist known for her layered paintings that explore light, nature and healing. She was born in Daegu, South Korea, and received early fine art training at Seoul Yewon School before moving to Vancouver, Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Arts in Art Education from New York University.
Kim has completed several public art commissions, including projects for the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art Program, the Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture in partnership with the LA County Department of Mental Health. Her work has been featured in both public and private spaces across Canada, Great Britain, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.
During the pandemic, Kim led community painting programs via webinar to support collective well-being and mental health. Her work continues to center on themes of wildflowers, hope and shared reflection, offering viewers moments of pause and quiet connection amid the pace of contemporary life.
