Joy Hyobin Kwon is a New York, New Jersey based artist specialized in Korean & Asian brush painting and calligraphy. She graduated from Keimyung University in South Korea, majoring in Calligraphy, she was awarded a master’s degree in fine art (Asian Ink Painting) and a Doctorate degree from the China Academy of Art. She was the first foreigner to obtain a Doctorate in Chinese bird and flower ink painting in the art history of China.
Since moving to New York in 2011, she has served as the Chairman of the Oriental Painting Division, senior vice president, and president of the Korean New York Art Association. Since 2015, she has been teaching at Rutgers University and Zhejiang University in China, starting with CUNY. Her art works have been exhibited internationally in cities such as New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Venice, Barcelona, London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Seoul.
권효빈은 뉴욕과 뉴저지를 중심으로 활동하는 작가로, 한국 및 아시아의 수묵화와 서예를 전문으로 합니다. 한국 계명대학교에서 서예를 전공한 후, 중국미술학원에서 동양화(수묵화) 석사 및 박사 학위를 취득하였습니다. 특히, 중국 미술사상 외국인으로서는 최초로 화훼 수묵화 박사 학위를 받았습니다.
2011년 뉴욕으로 이주한 이후, 뉴욕한인미술협회에서 동양화 분과 위원장, 수석 부회장, 회장을 역임하며 한인 미술계 발전에 기여해 왔습니다. 2015년부터는 뉴욕 시립대학교(CUNY)를 비롯해 뉴저지 럿거스 주립대학교, 중국 저장대학교 등에서 강의하며 후학 양성에도 힘쓰고 있습니다.
권효빈의 작품은 뉴욕, 뉴저지, 시카고, 로스앤젤레스, 워싱턴 D.C., 베니스, 바르셀로나, 런던, 홍콩, 베이징, 상하이, 항저우, 서울 등 세계 여러 도시에서 전시되었으며, 전통과 현대, 동서양의 감성이 조화롭게 어우러진 작품으로 국제적인 주목을 받고 있습니다.
